Top 10 Best Travel Apps

By Sashi Ohara

It’s no question that our phones are now an extension of us. When traveling, Internet can be such a hassle. Here are my Top 10 Best Apps I use while Traveling.

1. Maps.Me: A great way to access offline maps of the city or area you’re in. Also helps find near by sites you want to see. Just mark down on your map where you want to go before leaving wifi so you have it all noted! Remember, it’s an offline map so it’ll still work!

2. Xe Currency: One of the most accurate converting apps out there. You can have multiple currencies up on your home screen at once.

3. Google Translate: Google Translate is just a cool app all around. Not only can you type in words and sentences to have translated, but you can turn your video on and go right over a street sign if needed! But, you must download the language of the place you want translated prior to using.

4. WhatsApp: My favorite way to text and communicate with friends and family when I’m traveling. You can text people directly to their phones and not have to worry if they don’t have an iPhone to iPhone, or Facebook app.

5. DuoLingo: A fun gimmicky that you can play games on to learn the language!

6. Time Out: I personally love Time Out and am always interested in what they have up their sleeve. They’ve always given me great suggestions for restaurants and activities in the past, so they deserve to be on this list!

7. HostelWorld: Definitely a handy app to search for hostels quick and easily. It also keeps track of all of your past reservations for your references!

8. Skyscanner: Cheapest way to find flight.

9. CityMapper: A great directions app that provides all modes of transportation routes, but can even order an Uber through the app. Great for traveling as it still notifies you of directions with out service.

10. TripIt: Want to organize your travel plans in one place? TripIt does that. The app syncs with your emails and automatically creates an itinerary for your trip! Make sure you keep those notifications switched on, TripIt will also keep you notified if a flight is delayed or cancelled!
