Global Issues & How We Can Help

82.4 million. According to the US Commissioner for Refugees, that’s the number of forcibly displaced people in the word towards the end of 2020. The global refugee crisis can’t be ignored as well as the pandemic which really put millions in a compromising position financially but, there are several ways that we can people on a global scale. All I’m asking is that we try to make an effort to move with the intention and responsibility to protect and help others.

Donate Your Flyer Miles

Non-profits like Miles4Migrants will donate your frequent flyer miles, credit card points, and cash to help people impacted by war, persecution, or disaster reunify with loved ones. This will give people a chance at a new life in a safer environment.

Plant a Tree

Do you have a $1 to spare? That’s all it takes to get a tree planted across the globe. Trees provide us with oxygen, food, habitats, and protection. They also reduce storm water run off which can cause erosion and pollution in waterways. Non-profits like One Tree Planted are the perfect place to start!

Volunteer

Start local then expand global if you decide that you’d like to make a bigger commitment. To give you a few ideas, there are places of worship, food banks, and shelters that would gladly take all of your help. Especially, amid a global pandemic that caused more deaths, economic crisis and displaced families.

Domestic Violence

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, on average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States; equating to 10 million men and women within a year. That can be not only physically but mentally taxing.

A few ways we can help others that are victims of domestic violence is lending an ear to listen to them sort through their thoughts and emotions. Additionally, there are groups in your local area for example, Hot Peach Pages, Alliance for Hope International, and End Violence Against Women International. Also, there are several apps created by organizations that can connect people to therapists such as, Alma , Sojourner Peace, and onelove .
