NYFW 2021

The Highlights

Designers from all over the world came together to make NYFW 2021 an unforgettable experience.

I was in NYC for only 72 hours but I was happy to experience what I could in that time. Although I was constantly scrolling Insta and watching stories from other events of course.

Christian Siriano brought asymmetrical structured suits to the runway. Meanwhile, Maiden Name were “inspired by the cultural touchstones of the the 1970’s.” Last but not least, Harlem’s Fashion Row brought black-owned fashion brands that have imprinted on us all!

Revolve is always breaking glass ceilings, but this NYFW they took over.  To start, they produced their show in collab with Peter Dundas.  Ugh it was a match made in heaven.  Then Kylie Jenner & I, amongst thousands of influencers visited the REVOLVE Gallery. For the first time, they created unique gallery experience featuring rooms Revolve’s top brands. From a mini Time Square to discos and fresh floral walls, it took me over a half hour to walk through.  Then in true Disney world fashion, they had a store at the end with 10% off everything! Revolve just gets its.

It as great to see a portion of the Revolve Gallery supporting Cotton an organic brand. Personally, I have made it a point to promote brands that take the climate crisis seriously by creating more eco-conscious fashion collections.

Although I wasn’t at these events, I wanted to highlight a few ethical brands” Collina Strada, Bevza, and Rachel Comey and the following highlights of NYFW2021

  • LaQuan Smith’s stunning floral patterns contorted into futuristic design. Lala Anthony and Lori Harvey were among the many celebs that watched the show from the top of the empire state building like Lala Anthony and Lori Harvey.

  • Model Gigi Hadid walked the Khaite runway. Three words: wearable high luxury. It’s almost as if Khaite’s pieces were meant to make you look like you’re floating.

  • Let’s just talk about Tom Ford’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection! Those electric satins worn by beautiful models are perfect for a night out on the town with the girls. Absolutely loved the soundtrack the models were walking too. There were sound bites from Jay-Z and Aretha Franklin’s Respect.

NYFW discourse wouldn’t be appropriate with out my girl Rih Rih. She released Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 3 on Sept. 20th. The show opened with an opera singer adding to the mystery and enchantment of what the artist had up her sleeve. The performance that stole the show was Normani and BIA. A few familiar faces that were in the show were Daddy Yankee, Erykah Badu, Jazmine Sullivan and Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes.

In NYC, every day is about fashion week…But this week is always extra special!
